Welcome Address

4th European Universities Karate Championship

I am very pleased to welcome all the athletes, officials and guests to the 4th European Universities Karate Championship.

First of all, let me express my personal congratulations to the Organising Committee for the hard work put in the organisation of this Championship. To them I would like to wish all the best.
It is not the first time that the Spanish Committee of University Sport with its members organises such an important event and I am convinced that they will once again show their extraordinary ability to run such a prestigious Championship, as already proven in the past.

This year the European University Sports Association (EUSA) celebrates the 10th Anniversary of its foundation in 1999. To the Executive Committee, EUSA Members, Technical Delegates, Secretariat and STC Members it goes my heartfelt gratitude for their commitment and dedication aimed at improving the University Sport activity in these 10 years of EUSA activity, contributing to the success of our Association which is today the model adopted by other Continental Associations in the World.

It is also thanks to all the former Executive Committee Members, Honorary President Enno Harms and all our family that EUSA has achieved the outstanding success we witness today.

Furthermore, I would like to thank all the students who have been taking part in our events during these years and to those who are going to participate in our events in 2009, not only competing for the best placing in our Championships, but also for their will to spread out the Olympic spirit across Europe.

I hope you will bring with you this sensational spirit in everyday life as you are the symbol of our future society.

Welcome to EUC Karate 2009!

  Alberto Gualtieri,

President
